NEW YORK, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- InTouch Weekly landed in hot water this week after publishing a doctored photo of Olympian Bruce Jenner wearing makeup with the headline "My Life as a Woman" on its cover.
The cover story claims to offer details on Jenner's coming-out story, which the magazine said would be published in an upcoming issue of the LGBT news publication, The Advocate.
"I'm astounded that Bonnie Fuller's Hollywood Life would claim to have 'all the details' on Bruce Jenner's 'big magazine plans' because their story is a total fabrication -- like InTouch's distressing Photoshopped cover," said Matthew Breen, editor in chief of The Advocate. "Neither publication has any insider source with knowledge of The Advocate's planned coverage."

The cover and the story have made waves in the transgender community, with many advocates saying Jenner is being bullied by the media.
"That anybody is still trying to 'shock' people about transgender people is really sad," Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, told The Advocate.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been making headlines over his increasingly feminine look over the years. Jenner's ex-wife, Kris Jenner, has adamantly denied that Bruce is transgender and sources told TMZ she's been telling friends that "it's just mean to do, whether or not it's true."

According to BuzzFeed, InTouch's cover is more than just an edited image of Bruce Jenner. The website claims the image is a photo of British actress Stephanie Beacham superimposed on a photo of him.

While Bruce Jenner has yet to address the cover, a friend of his told TMZ, "he doesn't even pay attention to this stuff."
