Zooey Deschanel, Jacob Pechenik expecting first child

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Zooey Deschanel and boyfriend Jacob Pechenik are expecting their first child.

The 34-year-old actress confirmed the news through a representative Tuesday. Deschanel and the 42-year-old producer told People they are "over the moon" about her pregnancy, and "so excited to meet [their] little one."

Deschanel and Pechenik have been together since August 2014, and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2014 Emmy awards. The actress was married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012, and subsequently dated screenwriter Jamie Linden for two years.

Deschanel's older sister, Emily Deschanel, is also currently pregnant. The 38-year-old Bones star and husband David Hornsby welcomed son Henry Lamar in September 2011, and announced they are expecting their second child in December 2014.

Deschanel came to fame in Cameron Crowe film Almost Famous, and subsequently appeared in Elf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and (500) Days of Summer. She has produced and starred as Jess Day on Fox series New Girl since 2011.
