Macklemore and Oscar the Grouch team up for 'Thrift Shop' parody

NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Pop-rapper Macklemore stopped by Sesame Street on Monday to perform a kid-friendly parody of his not-so-kid-friendly single "Thrift Shop," with some help from Oscar the Grouch.

The original single, released in 2012, featured repeated use of unprintable four-letter words and a reference to R&B star R. Kelly urinating on an underage girl.

Sesame Street tones down Macklemore's lyrical love letter to all things tacky and cheap, reimagining it as a G-rated celebration of filthy fun, with Oscar and a chorus of two other Grouches declaring, "I'm gonna pop some trash, only got seven bags in my trash can."
