Bronze statuettes cast for 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Each award stands 16 inches tall, and weighs in at over 12 pounds.

BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Bronze statuettes were cast Tuesday in preparation for the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Workers in fireproof suits delicately transferred molten metal into molds to create the statuettes at the American Fine Arts Foundry in Burbank. Each award stands 16 inches tall and weighs over 12 pounds, and depicts The Actor holding comedic and tragic masks.

The 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place Sunday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. The ceremony was established in 1995, and recognizes achievements in both film and television. Winners are traditionally considered frontrunners for success at the Academy Awards.

Jennifer Aniston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Ruffalo are among the year's nominees for Best Lead Actress and Best Lead Actor in a Film. Carrie Fisher will present mother Debbie Reynolds with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
