Kelly Clarkson releases new single 'Heartbeat Song'

The upbeat track, is the lead single of Clarkson's seventh studio album.

NASHVILLE, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Kelly Clarkson is officially back.

On Sunday, the singer released "Heartbeat song," her first new song since launching 2013's Wrapped in Red, and according to Billboard, the track "is the sound of a reinvigorated artist embracing the opportunity to re-prove herself."

The song was written by Clarkson, Kara DioGuardi, Audra Mae, and Jason Evigan and it was produced by Greg Kurstin, who also collaborated with her on "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)."

The upbeat track, is the lead single of Clarkson's seventh studio album and remains true to her claim that the new album "will be pop."

Clarkson rose to fame in 2002 after winning the first season of American Idol. Her debut album, Thankful was released in 2003 and it debuted at number one on the American Billboard 200 chart.

The 32-year-old singer is married to talent manager Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares two daughters.
