MONACO, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco shared the first photos of their newborn twins Tuesday.

The royal couple released the pictures of baby Gabriella and Jacques to French magazine Paris Match. The snapshots show Princess Charlene, 36, with the infants in her arms, while Prince Albert, 56, looks on lovingly at his wife and children.

"I don't have the works to describe how it felt [during the birth] or the deep joy I feel now," the new father told the publication. "Having children -- and twins at that -- is an extraordinary experience. It's unique. And it's a challenge for us as parents."

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene married in July 2011, and welcomed the twins December 10. Prince Albert II is the reigning monarch of Monaco, and son to the late Prince Rainier III and actress Grace Kelly.
