It's unclear if the image is early creative work from Marvel Studio's creative team or fan art Derrickson felt was consistent with his direction for the upcoming film.

HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Although principal shooting has yet to even begin for 2016's Doctor Strange, director Scott Derrickson gave fans a sneak peak at his vision for title-star Benedict Cumberbatch and the tone of the film, tweeting out a mysterious graphical image of Cumberbatch coupled with Talking Heads lyrics.

While the image may be early concept work from the studio's art direction team, with the film nearly two years from opening theaters, its unlikely the image official -- rather its most likely fan art Derrikson felt spoke to his goals for the project.

Official or not, Derrikson's Twitter endorsement and accompanying David Byrne musing offers audiences their first insight into the eyes of artist who will bring Marvel's Manhattan magician to the big screen.

Doctor Strange is currently slated to open in theaters November 4, 2016.
