TOKYO, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Seth Rogen and James Franco's film "The Interview" will not be shown in theaters in Japan after North Korea condemned the movie depicting the assassination of Kim Jong Un.

The film, will not be screened in any countries in the East Asia region, reports The Japan Times.

The decision from Sony not to screen the movie in Japan comes after their systems were allegedly hacked by China and had several of their emails and films leaked online. The hack was suspected to be a retaliatory act after North Korea deemed the movie "an act of war."

Rogen and Franco star as two journalists who are enlisted by the CIA to assassinate the North Korean dictator.

Sony has edited the film to avert any "acts of war" over the comedy.
