NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- "Radiant Orchid," is already passé.

"Marsala" is the color everyone should be thinking about in 2015, according to the color enthusiasts at the New Jersey-based Pantone corporation.

"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness," Pantone announced in a release last week.

"While PANTONE 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, the captivating 2014 color of the year, encouraged creativity and innovation, Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability," said Pantone Color Institute Director Leatrice Eiseman.

Each year for the last 14 years, Pantone has identified a single color that will most influence taste-makers, artists, fashionistas and designers.

Last year's hue, "Radiant Orchid," was described as a "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones." Previous winners have included Emerald, Tangerine Tango and Honeysuckle.
