Gelila Bekele, Tyler Perry welcome first child

ATLANTA, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Gelila Bekele and boyfriend Tyler Perry welcomed their first child over the weekend.

The 28-year-old model gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday, Nov. 30. Bekele and Perry have been an on and off couple for five years, and the 45-year-old actor announced they were expecting in Sept.

"Mom and baby are happy and healthy," a source told People. "Tyler is so excited ... He's over the moon."

Perry spoke to Extra in Sept., and accidentally revealed he and Bekele were expecting a boy. The actor had a troubled relationship with his own father, and told host Jerry Penacoli he couldn't wait to dote on his son.

"The greatest gift I'm being given right now is the opportunity to give the little boy in me everything I never had, so that's what I'm excited about," he shared. "This beautiful human being that God has allowed to come into my life for me to get to know."

Perry last appeared alongside Ben Affleck in David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn novel Gone Girl. He will next star in Madea's Tough Love, and recently created OWN soap opera If Loving You is Wrong.
