NEW YORK, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Scarlett Johansson is happy to be a new mother.

The 30-year-old actress spoke about her daughter, Rose Dorothy, to German magazine Gala. Johansson and then-fiancé Romain Dauriac welcomed the baby in September, and the star shared her love for Rose in the interview.

"She smells sweet, totally," she said. "I can't describe it, but it really makes you euphoric ... [Motherhood] is exhausting in the most wonderful way. I never thought how much sleeping through the night would mean to me."

Johansson and Dauriac married in secret shortly after Rose was born, and the actress looks forward to collaborating with her new husband as father.

"I've come to the conclusion for myself that a relationship only functions if you communicate well with your partner," she said. "Listen to yourself and what you want, and listen to your partner ... Love can be difficult, but it's absolutely worth the effort."

Johansson most recently starred in the Luc Besson thriller Lucy. She will reprise Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, and is also scheduled to appear alongside George Clooney and Josh Brolin in new Cohen brothers film Hail, Caesar!.
