LOS ANGELES, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Melissa McCarthy is about to add clothing designer to her long list of accomplishments.
The 44-year-old actress revealed in a recent interview with Women's Wear Daily she's wanted to be a fashion designer since grade school and has finally decided to take the plunge -- she has teamed up with Sunrise Brands to create a fashion line that will include clothing, jewelry and beauty products for women.
"I always said, 'Why can't I find great stuff?' And Sunrise was up for the challenge," McCarthy said of the line, which according to her, will include pieces in "all sizes."
"Sunrise isn't afraid to shake it up and bring plus-size up to fashion," she explained. "I'm doing all sizes. It's a strange thing to stop at a certain size. Women don't, so why should clothes?"
The still-unnamed brand will launch its sportswear line in 2015 at several department stores and more upscale pieces including accessories and beauty products will roll out sometime between 2016 and 2017. The items will range in price from $39 to $110.
McCarthy says the contemporary collection that will follow the brand's casual sportswear line will have a "more modern" look than the items currently available for plus-size women.
"[I've been] every size on the planet. I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more," said the Emmy-wining actress. "And when you go above a size 12, you don't lose your love of fashion."
