LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Kelly Ripa has no problem with her children not liking her because she's strict, after all, she's their mother, not their friend.

The 44-year-old talk show host revealed during a visit to The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday that her 13-year-old daughter, Lola, has not been very fond of her since she grounded her recently.

"[Lola] recently lost her computer and phone privileges, so it's like taking away oxygen," said the mother of three before recounting the time she caught her daughter using her phone while she was supposed to be studying Spanish.

First day! So far so good!

"I don't think she likes me, but I don't care," Ripa said of her daughter's reaction to the punishment. "I'm like, 'I'm not your friend! I'm your mom.'"

She went on to say that she finds it an "obligation" to keep her daughter "living in the real world."

"She broke the rules," Ripa said, before adding. "I'm like, 'You're half-Mexican. Your grandmother is a Spanish teacher. You're not allowed to fail Spanish. It's the one thing you're not allowed to fail!'"

Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos are also parents to two boys, Michael, 17, and Joaquin, 11.
