LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Kesha has sued her longtime producer, Dr. Luke.

The 27-year-old singer is accusing the 41-year-old producer of sexually, physically and verbally abusing her over a period of 10 years. Kesha claims Dr. Luke plied her with drugs and alcohol to take sexual advantage of her, attacked her at his home in Malibu and called her names like "a fat [expletive]ing refrigerator."

"This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke," Kesha's attorney, Mark Geragos, said in a statement.

"The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented young female artist into submission for his personal gain," he continued. "Kesha is focused on moving her life and career beyond this terrible time."

Kesha says the alleged abuse caused her to develop an eating disorder. The singer checked into rehab for bulimia in January, and was in treatment for over 60 days. She is suing Dr. Luke for damages, and to be released from her recording contract with his company, Kasz Money.

Dr. Luke has denied the allegations of abuse, and filed his own suit against Kesha for extortion. The producer claims the singer is lying in order to be released from her contract.
