Phaedra Parks, Apollo Nida headed for divorce

ATLANTA, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Phaedra Parks and husband Apollo Nida are headed for divorce.

The 41-year-old reality star "has retained an attorney with the intent of amicably ending her marriage," rep Steve Honig told E! News. Parks and Nida were married for five years, and are parents to 4-year-old son Ayden and 1-year-old Dylan.

Nida checked in to prison in September, and is currently serving an eight-year sentence for bank, mail and wire fraud. He was previously incarcerated for car theft between 2003 and 2009.

"[Parks] is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests," Honig said in a statement the day Nida entered prison. "This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone's lives."

Parks came to fame on season three of Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She starred on the program for three subsequent seasons, and is expected to return for season seven with NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore and Claudia Jordan. Parks is an entertainment lawyer at Parks Group PC, and also served as a legal analyst for NBC and Fox News.
