NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift graces the cover of the 40th anniversary issue of People in Mia Farrow's pose from the iconic 1974 cover of the magazines' first issue.

In the cover story, the former country singer dishes on why she's waiting to get back in the dating game and explains why her girlfriends are "the most important thing" to her right now.

"They are trustworthy and know me and like me for who I actually am," Swift said of her best friends and fellow celebrities Lena Dunham, singer Lorde and actress Jaime King, to name a few.

While recounting the activities she engages in with her gal pals, Swift said she likes to "geek out" and play music with Lorde and cook or order Chinese food with King.

"My friends aren't really much for going out to bars or clubs. They're not really as interested in that -- and I'm not, either -- so it works out pretty well," she shared.

Also featuring stories on the disappearance of Hannah Graham and the Giudices jail sentences, the new issue of People is in newsstands now.
