ATLANTA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- More than two years after Justin Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, the Canadian pop star is ready to "get back to work."

Bieber, 20, took to Instagram Saturday to let his 21.9 million followers know that he's headed for the recording studio. The singer made the announcement in the caption of a black-and-white picture featuring him at the top of a cliff in a remote beach location.

"I've been on this break for too long," Bieber captioned the pic, along with the hashtags: #newmusic #back2work #vacationtimesup #longoverdue.

But Bieber is probably being too hard on himself. While the singer hasn't in fact released an entire music album since 2012, he did release a series of singles throughout 2013, which were eventually gathered in the his second compilation album, Journals, and released on Dec. 23.

In addition to putting out weekly tracks, Bieber kept busy during his break dealing with several run-ins with the law. The singer received a misdemeanor charge stemming from an egg throwing incident involving his neighbor in Calabasas, Calif., was charged with vandalism for painting graffiti in Brazil, and was arrested for DUI after being caught drag racing in Miami and he received a dangerous driving charge near his hometown in Ontario.

Bieber first hinted at his return to the studio last week after he damaged his eardrum in cliff diving accident.

"My ear drum might back us up a little but I'm still bringing you this new music," he tweeted. "Much love. Damn u cliff diving!"
