CANBERRA, Australia, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Australian actress Deborra Lee Furness revealed in a recent interview that the notion that she's "lucky" to be married to Hugh Jackman feels degrading.

"That to me is a putdown, like you suggesting I won the chook raffle," she told Australia's Women's Weekly magazine.

"I think we create our own destiny ... When people look at my life, they don't know the challenges [I face], just like I don't know someone else's. With every privilege, comes responsibility and challenges."

Furness, 58, and the X-Men star, 45, met on the set of an Australian TV show the early 1990s and have been married since 1996. The couple has two adopted children together, Oscar, 14, and Ava, 9. And while their life might seem too good to be true, the actress said luck had nothing to do with it.

"If you want something, you put it out there with good intention and you realize it," she said.
