NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Pop star Rihanna is openly furious with CBS for pulling "Run This Town" from Thursday Night Football's pregame show in response to the Ray Rice domestic abuse scandal.

"CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday," Rihanna tweeted.

"No, [expletive] you. Ya'll are sad for penalizing me for this."

In addition to the more serious tone of Thursday's pregame show, now anchored by an editorial about domestic violence by host James Brown, the entire first 25 minutes of the broadcast was devoted the Ray Rice scandal.

"We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone and coverage," CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus told Sports Illustrated at the time.

"A lot of the production elements we wanted in the show are being eliminated because of time or tone."

Although never directly addressed by CBS or the NFL, in 2009 Rihanna was brutally assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown, an incident that received blanket coverage across the American news media.
