Elisabetta Canalis, Brian Perri wed in Italy

The actress previously dated George Clooney for two years.

SARDINIA, Italy, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Elisabetta Canalis and Brian Perri are married.

The 36-year-old Italian actress wed Perri, an orthopedic surgeon, at Sassari Cathedral in Sardinia on Sunday. Canalis hails from the autonomous Italian island, and the ceremony took place near her hometown of Alghero.

"Thank you Alghero for making this dream possible," the actress tweeted in Italian. "Thanks to all the people for the affection you have shown me!"

Canalis previously dated American actor George Clooney for two years. Clooney himself is set to wed, and will marry English lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy, this fall.
