NEW YORK, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A vengeful lover may be responsible for Iggy Azalea's alleged sex tape.

The 24-year-old singer's legal team failed to disclose if such a tape exists, but told TMZ on Friday any video would be the work of a "spurned business suitor" seeking revenge. The team said it's possible Azalea was a minor when the film was shot, and the footage, if there is any, was taken "without her knowledge or consent."

Vivid Entertainment CEO Steven Hirsch was approached earlier this week by a person who claimed to have a sex tape of the star. He reached out to Azalea to discuss compensation for the video, but her rep said the singer is not the woman in the footage. Azalea herself denied the tape Thursday on Twitter.

"I don't have a sex tape but for the record... Anyone who releases or attempts to make profit off someone else's intimate moments against their will is a sex offender," she tweeted.

"& it honestly makes me sick to see the media encourage any other attitude towards those sorts of people, we should want to protect our women," she continued. "And i really hope that america will follow Europe and their laws to better protect peoples privacy and fundamental rights."

Azalea's alleged sex tape surfaced less than two weeks after Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and other celebrities were targeted in a nude photo hack.
