NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Michael C. Hall has been cast in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway.

"Our agreement with Andrew was always for eight weeks, and I am super excited about having Michael C. Hall take over," producer David Binder told Deadline.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch was written by John Cameron Mitchell, with music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. The musical follows Hedwig, an East German transgender singer in a rock and roll band, as she follows rockstar and love interest Tommy Gnosis across the country.

Hall made his Broadway debut as the emcee in Cabaret in 1999, and portrayed Billy Flynn in Chicago in 2002. The actor most recently appeared in a production of The Realistic Joneses, and starred in Jim Mickle film Cold in July earlier this year.
