LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Nick Cannon has addressed his divorce from Mariah Carey.

The 33-year-old actor took to Twitter on Wednesday to set the record straight and deny "false reports." Cannon claimed he never commented on his marriage to the press, and defended his estranged wife from negative rumors.

"What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey," he wrote. "I will forever be indebted to her for blessing me with our children. I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her whole heartedly..."

"So to see false reports in the media stating otherwise is absurd!" he continued. "While I would like to remain silent I can no longer allow this to happen. I love @MariahCarey and that will never change!!!"

Cannon and Carey met on the set of her music video for "Bye Bye" in March 2008, and married a month later in the Bahamas. The former couple have two children together, 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, and have been living apart for months. News of their split broke in August, and Cannon is reportedly barred from discussing the details of the divorce.
