LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Kanye West has revealed his own father was a paparazzo.

The 37-year-old rapper shared the information during a deposition in his civil lawsuit for allegedly attacking photographer Daniel Ramos. West was at Los Angeles International Airport in July 2013 when he lunged at and scuffled with Ramos in an attempt to take away his camera.

"My father was a paparazzo himself," West declared. "My mother was the first black chair of the English department in Chicago State. They didn't raise me to be out here wrestling with random paparazzi in front of LAX."

The rapper told Ramos' lawyer he has respect for and a working relationship with some paparazzi, but "then there's [expletive]holes like the guy you're representing."

"This guy is asking me about dumb [expletive]," he continued. "So, you know, I'm sorry that I tried to grab his camera. But I obviously didn't try to hurt him. I'm not here to hurt people."

West pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge related to the incident in March, and was sentenced to two years probation, 250 hours of community service and 24 anger management sessions. The no contest plea does not impact the civil lawsuit, and cannot be used against him in court.
