NASHVILLE, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Jason Aldean says he is tired of being judged for his relationship with Brittany Kerr.

The 37-year-old singer defended his 26-year-old former mistress on Instagram over the weekend. Aldean was married to Jessica Ussery when he and Kerr were photographed kissing in 2012, and subsequently filed for divorce in April 2013. Aldean and Kerr have been together since, and went public with their relationship at the 2014 CMT Music Awards in June.

The country star posted a picture of himself and Kerr with a French bulldog named Manny on Sunday, and captioned the photo, "A little surprise for my girl @brittanylkerr tonight. Her favorite pooch @manny_the_frenchie came to my show in Chi-Town tonite. #loveubaby #surprise."

The sentiments angered some fans, who complained about the couple in the comments section. Aldean responded to the criticism by posting an image of the quote, "You know my name not my story. You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through," and included a lengthy caption.

"So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about," he wrote. "I have made mistakes but i am a better person because of it, and wouldn't change a thing. Im happier than i have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. We are happy and life goes on. Its time to move on people. #aldeanarmy #oldnews #timetomoveon."
