Mark-Paul Gosselaar on 'negative' Dustin Diamond: 'It's his perspective'

"The Dustin Diamond thing is just so silly," Gosselaar's costar Breckin Meyer said of the actor's biographical book, "Behind the Bell." "It's just so negative and it always bums me out."

NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer commented on Dustin Diamond's book about his time on Saved by the Bell while visiting HuffPost Live on Wednesday.

Gosselaar, 40, co-starred opposite Diamond, 37, for four years in the early '90s sitcom about a group of high schoolers and their principal, but both actors have completely different perceptions of their time on the show.

"The Dustin Diamond thing is just so silly," Meyer said of the actor's biographical book, Behind the Bell. "It's just so negative and it always bums me out."

"It is negative," Gosselaar chimed in. "That I must say. Everything I've heard about his book is it is negative. I don't remember those things. My experience on the show was very positive."

Meyer went on to say that he knows "Elizabeth [Berkley] and Tiffani [Thiessen] and Mario [Lopez] and everyone has nothing but like awesome [things] to say about that except for Dustin. I'm like, 'That might be you, bro.'"

Gosselaar also denied any involvement in the forthcoming Saved By the Bell movie -- which is based off Diamond's book -- and defended his former co-star claiming the biography just portrays "his perspective" on how things unraveled.

"I think a bunch of it is bull [expletive]," Meyer said. "I think he's so full of [expletive], like his sex tape... you saw it! That's not him! Screech is not packing that. Get the hell out of here. He doesn't have six Beldings beneath him. There's no [expletive] way. You're full of [expletive], Dustin."

Gosselaar and Meyer's TNT show, Franklin & Bash, will kick off its fourth season on August 13.
