LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- Nicki Minaj is delaying the release of her single "Anaconda" until next week.

The 31-year-old rapper took to Instagram Sunday to announce the news along with a revealing photo of herself in pink underwear.

"My darlingz, I've pushed the release of Anaconda to next week, Monday 8/4. I promise you will understand why before the week is out. Loveeeeeeee uuuuuu," she wrote.

The announcement came days after the singer shared a similar photo, in which she appears squatting with her back to the camera, stating in the caption that "Anaconda" would be released on July 28.

Because the image fully displays the singer's derriere in a g-string, it didn't take long for the Internet to turn the sexy snapshot into a series of memes. The "Super Base" singer shared a few of her favorites later on with captions like: "I can't," "I'm sad" and "but why."

"Anaconda" is the second single of Minaj's upcoming third album The Pink Print. The album is expected to be released some time in 2014.
