NEW YORK, July 2 (UPI) -- Model Gisele Bundchen chopped off her signature long locks and brought out the razor for a photo shoot for Balenciaga's fall 2014 line.

The fashion label debuted the images of Bundchen's shocking new look on Twitter on Monday.

In the photos, Bundchen's hair is shaved close on the sides with a little bit more length along the top.

"This is how I see Gisele for Balenciaga; strong, powerful, mysterious and uncompromising," Balenciaga's artistic director Alexander Wang told Women's Wear Daily. "This season we worked with this idea of vanity, staged in a room filled with mirrors. But the cracked mirror is a continuing thread from the marble veins and creeping ivy leaves from seasons past."

The five black-and-white images depict Bundchen in a broken mirror-filled room. The shards of mirror echo the angular features of her face, brought out all the more by the severe hair cut.
