LOS ANGELES, June 26 (UPI) -- Shailene Woodley said Miley's just bein' Miley.

The 22-year-old Fault in Our Stars actress came to the 21-year-old singer's defense in the July issue of Vanity Fair magazine. Cyrus has made headlines all year for her wild and controversial antics, but Woodley said she thinks people should just leave the star alone.

"Miley isn't rude or mean or cruel to anyone in her actions," she asserted. "She just does herself. And regardless of whether you agree with what she's doing or not, it's none of your business what she does. She's not in the world doing mean things."

"Why are all these parents or all these people freaking out about Miley being herself?" she continued. "If you don't want your kids to watch it, you know, you can change that situation at home, but don't make a big deal of what she's doing. Make a big deal about the bullies at school who are beating kids up."

The actress also discussed co-stars George Clooney (The Descendants) and Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now, Divergent) in the issue. She will next appear in Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent, in 2015.
