GREEN BAY, Wis., June 15 (UPI) -- In a rare moment of candor, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers told ESPN he's happy in his relationship with Olivia Munn and is learning to embrace it being in the public eye.

The 30-year-old was spotted last week stealing a smooch from the actress while the two were on set of The Newsroom, confirming the fact that they're dating.

He said the public interest that came after the photo was revealed didn't bother him.

"For one, I'm real happy in my relationship," Rodgers said. "And I understand what comes with it. And two, the last couple years I've learned a lot about perspective and what's important. And, that you cannot, when you've had success individually and collectively as a team and you are highlighted for the things you've done on the field and off the field, you cannot hide from the spotlight. You have to learn to embrace it."

Rodgers acknowledged that in the past his been very quiet about his private life.

"I think I am still protective of that. But there's always going to be attention or scrutiny, and you can either understand it comes with the territory and embrace it, or you can lock yourself away. And I just can't do that," he said. "I need to be living my life. And I'm going to continue living my life and enjoy my public life and enjoy my relationships and not worry too much about that other stuff because it's like in football -- there's some things you just cannot control, and that's one of them."
