Chelsea Handler quit her talk show because she's tired of talking about the Kardashians

LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) -- Chelsea Handler, who interviewed celebrities for seven years on her E! talk show, Chelsea Lately, said she has bigger aspirations.

"I want to talk to people who are going to educate me. Politicians, medical professionals and people with real human interest stories," Handler told the Daily Mail this week. "I want to talk to people who have changed the course of the world. Inventors, invaders and people who have been doing exciting stuff."

Handler's manager said back in March that the 39-year-old comedian would leave the E! network when her contract expired. Her last episode will air in August.

"'To be quite honest I don't really care about Justin Bieber and I don't want to talk about him anymore. In order to make that happen I had to just stop doing my show. Straight away," she told the Daily Mail.

"You end up getting so into the mix that it changes the topics of the day. You can sit around and complain about all that s**t and the Kardashians all day but if you're participating in it then what can you do?" she added. The E! network also airs Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

"It really didn't feel great doing the show and the only way to sort things out was to extricate myself from the entire situation," Handler said.
