CHICAGO, June 7 (UPI) -- Musician Taylor Swift has joined the ranks of 200 celebrities and cultural icons who have shown support for the American Library Association's READ campaign.
Swift appears on a new poster for the project, wearing a bright, red dress, holding a copy of Lois Lowry's The Giver, a film adaptation of which is set to hit theaters Aug. 15.
Swift appears in the film as the character Rosemary.
The young adult novel, written in 1993, was the recipient of the 1994 Newbery Medal.
Swift has long been a supporter of public libraries and reading; she donates books in her hometown of Reading, Pa.
