LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- Jessica Alba recently discussed her sexy role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The 33-year-old actress appears on the cover of Entertainment Weekly's May 30 issue, and tells the magazine she has always found her sex symbol status "all kinds of weird." She will soon return as exotic dancer Nancy Callahan in the Sin City sequel, and reveals her character is less "naive" in the upcoming film.

"Ignorance was bliss," the star reflects of Nancy. "In this one there's no bliss and no ignorance. I wanted her to transition from being a victim to being someone who's in control of her own story."

Alba goes on to say she was "such a deer in the headlights" when she starred in the first movie. The sexy role cemented her status as a sex symbol, but the actress asserts she has less in common with Nancy than some might think.

"I never slept my way through Hollywood, so I never felt like I compromised," she declares. "Apparently people do it, I didn't. I felt like I never compromised myself because I'm a prude."

"I grew up Catholic," she continues. "In my head I'm always thinking, 'Oh God, can my grandma see this?'"

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For debuts in theaters August 22.
