LOS ANGELES, May 22 (UPI) -- An upcoming Lifetime movie will tell the story of the late Whitney Houston's volatile relationship with Bobby Brown, which ended in divorce in 2007.

Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett will direct the film, slated for a 2015 premiere.

"I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story," Bassett said of her directorial debut. "Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."

Bassett received an Oscar nod for her portrayal of Tina Turner in 1993's What's Love Got to Do With It. That film dramatized Turner's tumultuous and abusive relationship with her husband, Ike.

Lifetime has yet to release any casting details for the film.
