LAS VEGAS, May 19 (UPI) -- Miley Cyrus and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne formed an intergenerational match made in heaven when they met up earlier this year. They performed the Lips' "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" in February and have since collaborated on Beatles covers for the band's upcoming album, With A Little Help From My Fwends.

The first single off the album will be psychedelic Beatles classic "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," which Cyrus and Coyne performed in a pre-taped video broadcast at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

Cyrus, who spent much of last month in the hospital, joined Coyne onstage in matching tinsel coats.

"Our shows are very childlike, like kids on acid, and hers are too," Coyne told Rolling Stone of his friendship with Cyrus. "We're so much alike in believing art is supposed to be fun. She's just a freak. I love her to death."

"Freakz love other freakz," Coyne wrote on Instagram last week.
