VERSAILLES, France, May 19 (UPI) -- The Palace of Versailles confirmed that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were denied use of the palace for their wedding because they aren't "distinguished" enough.

It was reported that Kardashian and West had a special wish to be married in the palace that saw the marriage of Louis XVI, but France shut that notion down quickly. Catherine Pegard, president of the Palace of Versailles, said that it was not possible for the celebrity pair to get married there as they are not distinguished enough. Pegard did, however, offer a private, guided tour after closing hours.

"Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to visit the Chateau of Versailles with their guests in a private surprise tour organised for Friday, May 23rd, on the eve of their marriage," Pegard said in a statement. "In making this choice, they will contribute once more to a better understanding of Versailles, and will help to maintain the exceptional heritage of Versailles, which is classed as a world heritage site by Unesco."

Since Versailles was eliminated as an option, the ceremony is rumored to be taking place in a Renaissance Chateau in France, then the couple and their guests will go to Florence for a party in a 16th century historical fortress. Locals are angry that they will be partying in a historical monument, but Italian officials say that they will use the $411,000 dollars Kardashian and West reportedly paid to rent the space to restore the fortress.
