LOS ANGELES, May 14 (UPI) -- Rihanna gave $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation following an incident in which she accidentally broke L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff's cell phone at a Clippers NBA playoff game on Friday, May 9.

The Diamonds crooner was sitting court-side next to Soboroff at the game when he asked to take a selfie with her wearing an LAPD wristband to show her support for the officers. After the singer agreed and suggested she take the picture, she accidentally dropped the phone on the floor breaking its screen.

Rihanna autographed the broken phone -- which still works in spite having a smashed screen -- and later apologized to the police chief via Twitter.

"Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :)," she wrote Tuesday night, adding that she'd make a "special announcement" that evening.

Later Rihanna announced she'd be making a donation to the foundation and was allowing the phone to be auctioned.
