LOS ANGELES, April 27 (UPI) -- Female moviegoers drove Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann's comedy, The Other Woman, to the top of the weekend box office.

The Fox film, starring Diaz, Mann and model Kate Upton as women who discover that they're in relationships with the same man, pulled in $24.7 million over the weekend. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which spent three weeks in the No. 1 spot, dropped to second place with $16 million.

Women made up 75 percent of the The Other Woman's audience and gave the film a respectable B+ CinemaScore, despite mostly negative critical reviews.

“I think the combination of the three leads was a big draw, but Cameron has a great track record with comedies,” Fox exec Spencer Klein told the LA Times. “Once again, you see the power of a female-driven comedy.”

Christian film Heaven Is for Real came in at No. 3, while Rio 2 earned $13.7 million for fourth place.

Paul Walker's penultimate film, Brick Mansions, rounded out the top five with a modest $9.6 million.
