LOS ANGELES, April 17 (UPI) -- From Magic Mike to G.I. Joe to 22 Jump Street, Channing Tatum has plenty of franchises to worry about. But the 33-year-old star might join one more, if his talks with X-Men producers are successful.

Tatum told MTV's Josh Horowitz backstage at the MTV Movie Awards that he's met with Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all of the X-Men films.

"Gambit is really the only X-Man I’ve ever loved,” Tatum said. “I mean, I’ve loved them all, they’re all great, but I guess just being from down South -- my dad’s from Louisiana, I’m from Mississippi, Alabama, Florida -- I don’t know, I just related to him."

Gambit, a card-thrower and a ladies' man, speaks with a Cajun accent.

"You never know, it's a weird industry. If the stars align, I would die to play it. I'm already working on the accent. It's crappy at the moment," Tatum added.
