Maya Rudolph will return to NBC for her own variety show special

"The Maya Rudolph Show" is being promoted as a one-hour special, but may expand into an ongoing series.

NEW YORK, April 15 (UPI) -- Maya Rudolph will return to NBC for her own variety show special, The Maya Rudolph Show.

The Saturday Night Live alum last starred in NBC sitcom Up All Night with Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, but the show was cancelled in 2012. Rudolph will make her return to the network on May 19 with the help of several celebrity guest stars.

Kristen Bell, Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Craig Robinson, Sean Hayes and Chris Parnell will all make appearances on the television special. Raphael Saaddiq will serve as bandleader of the show's musical accompaniment, and Janelle Monae will appear as a musical guest.

SNL creator Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer for the program. The show is being promoted as a one-hour special, but may expand into an ongoing series.

The Maya Rudolph Show will air at 10 p.m. ET Monday, May 19.
