NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- Rush Limbaugh is extremely unhappy that Stephen Colbert has been chosen to replace David Letterman on the Late Show.

The 63-year-old conservative radio host voiced his opinion of Colbert Thursday on The Daily Rushbo after CBS made the announcement. The network has chosen the Colbert Report host to replace Letterman on the Late Show after the latter's retirement in 2015.

"CBS has declared war on the heartland of America," Limbaugh asserted. "No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values -- now it's just wide out in the open."

"What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and...of what is comedy," the radio host continued. "The world is changing and people don't want the kind of comedy that [Johnny] Carson gave us -- or even Letterman -- they don't want that anymore."

"It's a declaration," he concluded. "They hired a partisan -- so-called comedian -- to run a comedy show."
