LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Bob Saget opened up about his life behind the scenes on the set of 90s sitcom Full House in his new memoir Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian.

The 57-year-old actor played cleaning-freak, devoted father Danny Tanner for eight years in the ABC series, but in real life, Saget was nothing like his character.

"I’d release my demons for a little while onstage," Saget writes, explaining that he was often scolded by producers and the kids' parents for his childish antics, which included making sexual gestures with a 4-foot doll and getting high off of cans of Reddi-whip whipped cream.

"I couldn’t help it. The whole show for me was like a beautiful Jekyll and Hyde experience," Saget writes. "Being silly helped us survive a super-clean-cut show that at first mostly got panned but then in retrospect became part of family-television humor."

But in some ways, Saget was never able to break character. He reveals in the book that he often changed Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's diapers in between scenes.

"Cameras were rolling and one of the young ladies had made a poop, which had to be removed or we would have been holding a child with a smashed-poo-filled diaper for a long scene," he shares. "A very long scene if you’re smelling poo the whole time."

Saget also spoke about his relationship to costars John Stamos and Dave Coulier during the show, explaining that Uncle Joey was known for his smelly gas explosions, and that he once slept on the same bed as Uncle Jesse after a long night of partying.

Stamos and Saget once got so drunk together that Stamos "ended up literally taking off my shoes, cutting up my room-service steak and feeding me so I wouldn’t yack."

"One of his sisters even stopped by to check on us. Then he put me to bed. He went to bed soon after. Next to me," he writes. "When I woke up the following day I realized ... I had just slept with John Stamos."

Saget's Dirty Daddy also touches on his stand-up comedy career and his personal life. The book is in stores now.
