LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- The adult animated sitcom The Simpsons will debut on FXX with a 12-day, 552-episode marathon in August.
"It will be the longest continuous marathon in the history of television," said Jon Landgraf, chief executive of FX Networks, at an upfront presentation held Wednesday in New York.
The network also plans to launch an app possibly called "Simpsons World" but the details have not been formalized yet.
"Think of it as a comprehensive, beautifully curated digital library of all things 'Simpsons,'" Landgraf said. "I’m absolutely blown away by what I’ve seen. This could well be the best app I have ever seen."
The Simpsons was sold to the network for the huge syndication price of $750 million over the life of the deal. The deal made it so the show will be available both on demand and on the FX app.
