LAS VEGAS, April 8 (UPI) -- Rascal Flatts' performance of "Rewind" at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards felt a little off to many country music fans, who questioned whether the band had been lip-syncing.
Rascal Flatts didn't even try to pretend that they actually sang that song.

On Monday, the band took to Twitter and Facebook to clear the air. They admitted to lip-syncing the song because their lead singer had lost his voice and they didn't want to cancel their ACM gig.
"After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary [LeVox] lost his voice," the band said on Twitter. "So, instead of canceling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync."
Rascal Flatts chalked the poor performance up to lip-syncing inexperience.
"We’ve never done it before, and we’re obviously not very good at it. We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!" the band wrote.
