NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Beyonce covers the May issue of Out magazine wearing nothing but shiny eye makeup and a handful of necklace.

Her appearance in the gay and lesbian glossy marks the first time the 32-year-old singer has graced a magazine cover since she unveiled her secret album, Beyonce, in December 2013. During her interview for the magazine, the "Partition" singer disclosed several secrets about her time in the studio.

"When I recorded 'XO' I was sick with a bad sinus infection. I recorded it in a few minutes just as a demo and decided to keep the vocals," she explained. "I lived with most of the songs for a year and never rerecorded the demo vocals. I really loved the imperfections, so I kept the original demos. I spent the time I'd normally spend on backgrounds and vocal production on getting the music perfect."

Asked how she managed to produce such a "sexually liberating" album that provoked a conversation about "maturity and fantasy" among women, Beyonce says it was her music, and not her, who started the conversation.

"Women should own their sexuality," she told Out. "Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that."
