NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- The Simpsons paid homage to retiring Late Show host David Letterman on Sunday, by featuring an animated version of the 67-year-old comedian in its iconic introductory "couch gag."

In the bit, Homer, Marge and the rest of the family brave New York City traffic to sit down with Letterman.

Letterman announced his planned retirement on last Thursday's episode, telling the audience that he would leave the CBS show when his contract is up at the end of 2015.
