Toby Kebbell slated to portray Doctor Doom in 'Fantastic Four' film

The character Doctor Doom was born Victor von Doom, and is the leader of the fictional nation Latveria.

Toby Kebbell seems poised to take on the role of villain Doctor Doom in the new Fantastic Four reboot.

Variety reported Tuesday that the actor has moved to the top of 20th Century Fox's list to portray the character. Kebbell has previously appeared as Agenor in Wrath of the Titans and Tony in The Counselor. He will next appear as Koba in Dawn of the Plant of the Apes.

The character Doctor Doom was born Victor von Doom, and is the leader of the fictional nation Latveria. He serves as a recurring supervillain and archenemy to the Fantastic Four in the Marvel universe. Doom has many different powers, including a genius intellect, the ability to transfer his consciousness to other beings, and superhuman strength.

Kebbell would face off as Doctor Doom against Kate Mara as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Miles Teller as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch).

The Fantastic Four reboot will debut in theaters on June 19, 2015.
