James Gandolfini stars in first trailer for his final film, 'The Drop'

Gandolfini portrays Marv, a man whose cousin finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry.

Late actor James Gandolfini stars in the first trailer for his final film, The Drop.

The former Sopranos star died on June 19 last year after he suffered a heart attack. Gandolfini was well-known for his role as Tony Soprano, and also appeared in a number of films. His role as Albert in the 2013 movie Enough Said earned him several best supporting actor nominations from different awards organizations.

Gandolfini stars alongside Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in The Drop. The crime drama film is directed by Michaël R. Roskam, and is based on a screenplay by Mystic River and Shutter Island author Dennis Lehane.

The film follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Hardy) as he funnels money in "drops" to different Brooklyn bars. Gandolfini portrays Marv, Saginowski's employer and cousin, who must deal with a robbery gone awry once Saginowski finds himself at the center of it. Rapace plays Saginowski's love interest, Nadia.

The Drop will debut in theaters on September 19.
