Amy Adams is currently in negotiation to star in the upcoming alien thriller Story of Your Life. The new film is based on a short story of the same name by Ted Chiang, and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners). Eric Heisserer (The Thing, 2011) has written the script.

Adams would play Dr. Louise Banks, a linguist recruited by the military after several alien spaceships land on Earth. Banks must learn to communicate with the aliens and determine if they pose a threat to humans. She begins to experience vivid flashbacks that provide clues about the aliens' true intentions.
Story of Your Life intends to begin filming next year. FilmNation and Lava Bear Films will finance and produce the movie.
Adams will next appear in Andrew Levitas' Lullaby.
