Tennis star Anna Kournikova and singer Enrique Iglesias have been dating for over twelve years ... and she still hasn't met his father, Julio Iglesias.

"You know I have to tell the truth, I have never met Anna," the 70-year-old Julio tells The Mirror. "Yes, my wife and my kids and his brothers have, but I have never met her, no, no, never."

"My kids are very independent and it is difficult to see Enrique because he is all over the world," the Spanish star continues. "But Anna is very beautiful -- they have good taste, my kids."

Julio says that he is "very proud" of his son's accomplishments and that Enrique "is a super guy." The legendary singer acknowledges that "it's not as easy to follow in the same steps as ... the father," but says that he considers his son "in the same class" as Michael Douglas and Liza Minnelli. Douglas followed in the footsteps of his famous actor father, Kirk Douglas, and Minnelli pursued singing and acting like mother Judy Garland.

"[Enrique's] music is very different to mine and he has gone his own way ... He is doing very well," the elder Iglesias says.

Enrique and Anna Kournikova started dating in late 2001, and she appeared as his lover in his music video for "Escape" soon after. Rumors that the pair had split began in late 2013, but the couple is currently still together.

Enrique released his tenth studio album, Sex and Love, in mid-March. Dad Julio will release his own new album, 1: The Collection, on May 12.
